What's a MIB?

A MIB (Management Information Base) is a structured document that defines the data a device exposes over SNMP — things like interface counters, system uptime, or CPU load. Each module declares a set of named objects, organized into a tree.

What's SNMP?

SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) is how network devices — routers, switches, servers — report status and statistics to monitoring tools. It's the protocol; MIBs are the vocabulary it uses to describe what's being asked for.

What's an OID?

An OID (Object Identifier) is the numeric address of one piece of data in a MIB — a dotted sequence like 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1, read from the root of a global tree down to one specific object. Names are easier to read; OIDs are what's actually sent over the wire.

Description

The IP allocation method indicated by this row. The value of mgmtReservationInactive(1) indicates an externally provisioned IP address reservation that has not yet been leased or that has an expired lease. This indicates an IP address lease reservation created either by an operator or a user. The value of mgmtReservationActive(2) indicates an externally provisioned IP address reservation that has an active lease. This indicates an IP address lease reservation created either by an operator or a user. The value of dynamicInactive(3) indicates an IP address that was once dynamically assigned to a LAN client by the device but currently has an expired lease. The value of dynamicActive(4)indicates an IP Address that was dynamically assigned to a LAN device by the gateway and has a current active lease. The value of gwReservationInactive(5) indicates an IP address reservation created by some internal process of the gateway and has not yet been leased or has an expired lease. The value of gwReservationActive(6) indicates an IP address reservation created by some internal process of the device that has an active lease.
