What's a MIB?
A MIB (Management Information Base) defines the data a device can report over SNMP — things like interface counters, system uptime, or CPU load — organizing each value under a name and a fixed numeric address. Every MIB module declares a tree of related objects, and a device typically implements dozens of MIBs at once: a handful of universal ones every vendor supports, plus whatever proprietary ones that specific vendor has published.

What is a MIB browser?
A MIB browser is a tool for reading and navigating MIB files — the definitions that describe what data a device can report over SNMP. Instead of reading raw ASN.1 text by hand, a MIB browser renders each object's name, OID, syntax, and description in a searchable, navigable form. MIB Viewer does this entirely in your browser, for MIBs already in its database or ones you upload yourself.
What is an OID lookup tool?
An OID lookup tool resolves an OID — a dotted numeric address like 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1 — to the object it identifies, and vice versa: name to OID. MIB Viewer's OID search does both, and shows the object's full definition and its exact position in the MIB tree, not just a bare name.
Is MIB Viewer free to use?
