A dying gasp is a device's last message before it loses power - sent using energy stored in a capacitor or drawn briefly from a battery - telling a monitoring system this was an actual power failure, not a crash or a lost uplink.

Unlike SNMP's standard restart traps (coldStart, warmStart), there's no shared, IETF-defined dyingGasp notification. Every vendor defines their own.
